Toddler New teeth

The first tooth is small. The first visit sets the tone. We keep it short, playful, and practical so your child leaves smiling and you leave with a clear plan.

When to book?

First tooth or first birthday. Early visits prevent issues and build confidence.

What happens in one visit (about 30 minutes)

  • Warm-up. Your child explores the room and “counts teeth” with a mirror.

  • Lap exam. Gentle knee-to-knee check of gums, tongue, bite, and enamel.

  • Clean + enamel boost. Soft brush clean; fluoride varnish if appropriate.

  • Home plan. Brushing demo, feeding tips, injury guidance, follow-up timing.

  • Your questions. We answer all of them.

How to make it easy

Book at your child’s happiest time. Bring a favorite toy. Use phrases like “count teeth” and “tickle teeth.” Avoid words like “injection” or “pain.”

Frequently asked questions

  1. Will my child need X-rays? Not usually at the first visit unless trauma, pain, or hidden decay is suspected.

  2. Is fluoride safe? Used correctly and in tiny amounts, yes. We size the dose to your child and show you exactly how to use toothpaste at home.

  3. What about my child sucking a Thumb or a pacifier? We’ll give realistic weaning steps and monitor bite development over time.

  4. How does Night feeding affect cavities? Frequent overnight milk or sweet drinks raise the risk. We’ll tailor a gentle transition plan.

  5. What are some Home routines that your pediatric dentist recommends? Brush twice daily with a soft brush. A smear (rice-grain) of toothpaste under age 3; pea-size from 3–6. Spit, don’t rinse. Lift the lip weekly to spot early white patches near the gums.

  6. My child has special healthcare needs usually. Whats different in dentistry? Tell us what helps—sensory preferences, communication style, positioning, rewards. We adapt the visit and can schedule desensitization visits if useful.
